COMPUTER IMPORTANT KNOWLEDGE

Types of Internet Service

Dial-up – Dial-up Internet access is a form of Internet access that uses the facilities of the public switched telephone network (PSTN) to establish a dialed connection to an Internet service provider (ISP) via telephone lines.
DSL – A digital subscriber line (DSL) modem is a device used to connect a computer or router to a telephone line which provides the digital subscriber line service for connectivity to the Internet, which is often called DSL broadband.
Cable : Cable Internet service is a type of broadband connection that transmits data over a cable television network. Typically faster than DSL and cheaper than fiber-optic, a cable Internet connection offers a great balance of speed and affordability.
Satellite : Satellite Internet is a form of high-speed Internet service. Satellite Internet services utilise telecommunications satellites in Earth orbit to provide Internet access to consumers.
3G and 4G : 3G is shorthand for “3rd generation,” and refers to a networking standard in cell phone technology that is capable of providing high-speed data service to mobile devices.
4G Short for “fourth generation,” 4G is the next generation of wireless communications succeeding the 2G (GSM), 2.5G (GPRS or EDGE) and the 3G network technologies.

Hardware Needed

Modem : Short for modulator-demodulator. A modem is a device or program that enables a computer to transmit data over, for example, telephone or cable lines. Computer information is stored digitally, whereas information transmitted over telephone lines is transmitted in the form of analog waves. A modem converts between these two forms.
